This comes as HBO announced that the premier was viewed by 17.4 million viewers and was the most streamed night in the history of HBO. According to HBO the HBO NOW app saw an approximate jump of 50% in viewing when compared to last season’s finale and nearly doubled (97%) when compared to the seventh season premiere.
According to readers who streamed the premiere, HBO successfully handled the millions of Americans streaming the show. There were some early reports of HBO GO being down but HBO NOW the cord cutting version reportedly stayed up and ran smoothly for the millions of Game of Throne fans.
