For years Roku has had a huge advantage when it came to free content. Now Amazon has closed that gap by first launching its own streaming service and now bringing a large collection of Filmrise apps to the Fire TV.

First launched in 2010, Filmrise has a huge catalog of movies and TV shows. These ad-supported movies and TV shows can now be streamed on the Fire TV with a huge collection of movies and TV shows.

You will find a growing list of Filmrise apps on Comedy, Documentaries, History, and more that all went live last week.

Filmrise’s website describes the service as:

FilmRise is a film and television distribution company founded by veteran producers and financiers Danny Fisher, Jack Fisher and Alan Klingenstein. FilmRise content can be found in theaters, on popular streaming platforms, television, and on our proprietary channels, including Roku.

FilmRise has raised $112 million in acquisition capital to fund its aggressive acquisition strategy. With over 15,000 titles in a wide range of genres, the company’s releases include HBO’s multiple Emmy®-winning “Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief”; “Janis: Little Girl Blue,” produced by Oscar®-winner Alex Gibney; and the Sundance hit “White Girl.” Television titles include such classics as “Roseanne” and “3rd Rock from the Sun” as well as the iconic Robert Stack hosted series “Unsolved Mysteries.”
