The Fire TV Has Been Updated With New Features

Fire TV 36Many players have had parental controls for some time, but now Amazon’s Fire TV has the ultimate answer to your parental control needs.

Not only can you set rating limits on Amazon Video content, but you can also put a pin on apps. For the first time parents can restrict what apps their children have access to by requiring a pin to open the app.

Do you have HBO NOW but do not want your young kids accessing it when you are not there? Just set a pin on the app and your children are locked out of any app you do not want them accessing.

This move by Amazon gives buyers a reason to pick the Fire TV over the Roku as the two companies fight it out. Right now the Fire TV is far behind Roku in number of installed devices but that gap is closing. Having Amazon offer a powerful system of parental controls could make it the must-have device for families that are looking for the ability to control what their children have access to.

For now this is a bit of a back and forth fight between Roku and Amazon as one device adds a feature or service the other seems to quickly follow. In the end this is the best thing that could happen for cord cutters as it brings us better streaming players.
