The CW Hires a Former Roku Executive to Help Grow its Free Streaming Service

Today Nexstar Media Group announced that they have hired Ashley Hovey as Chief Digital Officer at the CW. This is a new rule that will see Hovey oversee The CW Network’s online efforts.

“I’m excited to join the Network at a crucial time when anything and everything is possible in TV and streaming,” said Ashly Hovey. “The CW has an amazing audience and history, and I look forward to bringing my experience of building one of the largest Ad Supported streaming businesses to the Network. Together with the great team Dennis has put in place, I cannot wait to grow the Network to new heights.”

Previously Hovey was the senior director for ad-supported video at The Roku Channel.

With this hire, Nexstar gets an executive with a great amount of experience to help lead its free ad-supported streaming efforts that already have 92 million downloads. The CW App is available for free on all virtually all major platforms, including Roku, Fire TV, LG Smart TVs, iOS, tvOS for Apple TV, Google Play, Android TV, VIZIO, UWP, Xbox One, and more.
