The Best Smart TVs for Cord Cutting? Roku TV vs Google TV vs Fire TV vs Samsung vs Vizio – 2023 Cordie Awards

Thinking of buying a smart TV? Not sure what brand would be best for cord cutting? We asked more than 1,000 cord cutters what TVs they thought were the best for streaming, and this is what they told us.

According to our readers, the best smart TVs for cord cutters are Roku TVs with 41% of the vote. Google TV/Android TV came in second at 12% followed by Samsung at 10.7%. Amazon’s Fire TV at 9% and Vizio at 3.6% rounded out the list. All other TV brands didn’t even receive 1% of the vote.

Roku is continuing its domination in streaming with cord cutters. Roku says 1 in 3 new TVs sold in the United States are now Roku TVs; although, seeing Roku TVs are more popular than the next three TV manufacturers combined is a surprise.

Roku has found a market with customers who want affordable TVs with easy-to-use interfaces.

And, smart TVs have been taking over and reducing the need for streaming players. In 2023, Roku for the first time in over 10 years, didn’t update their line of streaming players. Instead, they launched a new line of Roku-branded smart TVs and seem to be focusing on these TVs.

What may be the biggest surprise is that Google TV and Android are the second most popular maker of smart TVs for cord cutters. It seems that cord cutters are more interested in the OS on the TV than the manufacturer.
