The Average American Subscribes to Just 2.25 Streaming Services

Male hand holding TV remote control. For some time now one of the main attacks on cord cutting has been that you need 10 services to get what you want to watch. Our internal reader surveys have shown the average cord cutter pays for four or fewer streaming services. Now, according to a presentation at NAB from Tony Gunnarsson a principal analyst at Ovum, the average streamer subscribes to 2.25 streaming services.

With most streaming services costing under $10 a month, many Americans are willing to subscribe to multiple services.

Cord cutters are not the only subscribers to multiple services. The same study said over half of cable TV subscribers also subscribe to at least one streaming service. This means most Americans not only need to count the cost of cable TV over cord cutting but add in the cost of services like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon.

How many streaming services do you subscribe to right now? Did you subscribe to a streaming service back when you had a traditional pay-TV service like cable or satellite TV? Leave us a comment and let us know what your experience with streaming has been.
