Apple TV is Rolling Out Multiview For MLB & Other Sporting Events

For weeks now, we have heard rumors of multiview coming to the Apple TV. Some Apple TV apps already support the features like YouTube TV and Fubo, but now Apple is building it into the OS.

Starting tonight, Apple will release a beta version of the Multiview feature for MLB Friday Night Baseball live stream, according to Techcrunch. To take advantage of this multiview experience, you need to be using tvOS Beta Version 16.5. To get this go to System > Software Updates > and select Get Beta Updates.

Sadly this means if you are using Apple TV+ on Roku, Fire TV, or other devices you will not get this new Multiview feature.

Recently Apple has been bidding for more sports rights. The Pac-12 has reportedly been one of its major targets. The ability to offer multiview to customers would help them attract more sporting rights.

According to Tom’s Guide, the feature, for now, is limited to MLS season pass and MLB Friday Night Baseball. No word yet if Apple plans to help other services take advantage of the feature. To take advantage of this, you must be an Apple TV+ subscriber at this time.

Multiview will work a lot like YouTube TV’s multi-view allowing subscribers to switch audio between different feeds with their remote.
