The Apple TV App is Coming to LG Smart TVs

Apple TV + LogoToday LG announced that they will add the new Apple TV app to their 2020 smart TVs. This will allow LG TV owners with 2018 and 2019 will also get the new Apple TV app on select LG TV to watch movies purchased on iTunes, subscribe to channels through the new Apple TV app, and more.

LG has not announced a lot of details about this deal but inside the LG press release, they included this statement:

New for 2020, the Apple TV app allows customers to subscribe and watch Apple TV+ and Apple TV channels as well as access their iTunes video library and buy or rent more than 100,000 films and TV shows. Customers with 2018 and 2019 LG TV models will also be able to enjoy the Apple TV app this year.

No date has been announced for when the new Apple TV app will come to LG TVs. Also no word on AirPlay 2 support. For now it looks like LG owners will be limited to the Apple TV app simular to how Roku and Fire TV owners have the Appel TV app but not Air Play2 support.
