The 2015 Cordies: Best New Streaming Service of 2015

2015 was full of new services for cord cutters, and three stood out above all the others. Our finalists for the 2015 Cordy Award for Best New Streaming Service: Pluto TV, Sling TV, and HBO NOW.

Each of these services have had a big impact on cord cutting. HBO Now did something many said would never happen and brought HBO to cord cutters without the need to sign up for cable TV. Pluto TV took the massive amount of content available to cord cutters and curated it into a ton of topics for your easy enjoyment. Sling TV brought cord cutters a ton of content that used to cost on average $100 a month for prices starting at $20 a month.

The winner of the 2015 Cordy for Best New Streaming Service: Sling TV

We have to tip our hats to the runner-up Pluto TV. It was a close battle. Pluto has taken the cord cutting world over in whirlwind fashion; however, when looking at who had a bigger impact we have to give it to Sling TV.

All you have to do is look at Mohu Antennas CEO’s statement that antenna sales doubled after Sling TV was announced to know it had a huge impact on cord cutting. Sling TV also seems to have pushed other services like HBO NOW and Showtime Anytime, which came after the success that was Sling TV.

So when looking at who had the bigger impact overall we have to say Sling TV had the biggest impact on cord cutting in 2015.

Congratulations Sling TV!
