TCL Studios Debuts AI-Powered Romance Film Next Stop Paris on TCLtv+

TCL Studios has unveiled its latest cinematic creation, Next Stop Paris, a groundbreaking AI-powered romance film now available to stream on TCLtv+. The film, written and directed by industry veteran Stuart Acher, makes its debut on February 13, just in time for Valentine’s Day. As the first extended film to emerge from TCL’s innovative production hub, Next Stop Paris anchors the platform’s new Romance channel, blending advanced AI technology with human emotion to create a visually captivating and heartwarming story.

A Love Story Set Against the Backdrop of Paris

Next Stop Paris tells the story of Claire, a meticulous planner, and Del, a carefree dreamer, who meet by chance on a train. Their spontaneous day in the City of Light becomes a journey of self-discovery and romance, leaving them to question whether their connection is pure serendipity or something more profound. The 12-minute film seamlessly merges live-action performances with AI-generated visuals, offering viewers a unique, hybrid cinematic experience.

“Set against a stunning Paris backdrop, the brilliant TCL Studios teams have reimagined the classic love story with whimsy, emotion, and heart at its core,” said Catherine Zhang, VP, Content Service & Partnership at TCL. “We know our viewers will take great delight in following Claire and Del’s incredible journey.”

Blending AI Innovation with Classic Filmmaking Techniques

The creation of Next Stop Paris was an ambitious, eight-month endeavor involving more than 80 professionals, including writers, actors, VFX artists, and engineers. The production utilized advanced AI tools like Midjourney, Runway ML, and proprietary TCL applications. Scenes were meticulously storyboarded, combining traditional camera work with AI-generated environments to preserve the authenticity of human interactions.

Director Stuart Acher emphasized the importance of balancing technological innovation with emotional depth: “While you are looking at AI-generated characters – their hair, their bodies, their clothes, and the world – they are grounded in the real, raw performances of talented actors that we filmed. Without that, the tech is just, well, tech.”

A Milestone for TCL Studios

Next Stop Paris represents a significant milestone for TCL Studios, following the success of its sci-fi short Message in a Bot and the theatrical showcase of five titles from its Film Machine development pipeline last year. The studio aims to continue exploring AI’s potential to enhance storytelling without compromising the emotional core of its narratives.

“This beautiful and ambitious film represents the possibilities of talented creatives employing the latest technology to advance storytelling,” said Haohong Wang, General Manager of TCL Research America. “This is just the beginning.”

As TCL Studios continues to push the boundaries of AI in film production, Next Stop Paris stands as a testament to the studio’s commitment to innovation and engaging storytelling.
