Target Makes It Easier to Return Items Without Even Leaving Your Car

You probably know of curbside pickup, even if you haven’t used it. Now you will soon be able to make curbside returns at Target. Now Target announced it is going to offer curbside returns to speed up the return process and make customers more willing to buy at Target in person or online.

The return process will work just like setting up a curbside pickup. You will start the return on the Target website or app. Once you arrive, you let Target know what curbside spot you parked in through the Target app. After you do that, a Target employee will come to you and pick up the return.

“Our journey to expand our fulfillment options starts with making it easier for our guests to shop with us,” says Mark Schindele, Target’s executive vice president and chief stores officer. “That’s why we’re launching Drive Up Returns. Allowing our guests to process a return from the comfort of their car underscores our commitment to helping our guests shop — and return — however they choose.”

Target is hoping that not only will this speed up returns, but it will also free up staff at the customer service desk. This new return method means staff dedicated to curbside pickup handle the returns, not the customer service desk.

This also helps Target grow its stores-as-hubs strategy that sees stores used to fulfill online orders.

Target will accept most new unopened items within 90 days of purchase and up to a year for Target-owned brands for free.

As online sales become, a more popular increasing number of customers want to buy from sites that make returns easier. Amazon has worked hard to partner with the UPS store and Khols to make returns easier. Now Target is hoping this new method that allows you to return items without even leaving your car will help people pick Target over Walmart and Amazon.
