Yet there are several catches, so let’s take a closer look at what you get.
Cost
While the service is advertised as $19.95, there is a mandatory $6.05 or more broadcast fee. So the total cost of the service is $26 a month. Still not a bad deal compared to the average of about $30 for most live TV streaming services.
Locals
With the service not only will you get your typical ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC, but you also get the CW along with smaller locals such as Me TV, Escape, and GRIT (locals vary by market).
You will also get channels such as Spectrum News along with A&E, Discovery, Food Network, and Hallmark.
Add-Ons
It seems Spectrum is taking a page from Sling TV by offering a basic package that you can add to. If you want Sports and News you will have to pay $12 a month to get access to ESPN Networks, NBC Sports, Fox Sports Networks, along with BBC News, Bloomberg, and The Weather Channel.
If you love movies, you can get the $15 movie add-on that includes HBO, Showtime, TMC, Starz, and Encore. If you just want one of the premium movie channels it will cost you $7.50 each.
On Demand
Spectrum’s live TV streaming service currently does not offer any DVR option; however, there is on-demand content. Every channel does offer the last five episodes of the shows it airs. (Seems to be new ones not reruns.)
Availability
Currently you need Spectrum’s Internet service to get its new live TV streaming service.
