Tablo is Rolling Out a Firmware Update to Allow Older Models Use Newer Tablo Apps

Tablo is releasing a firmware update for legacy network-connected Tablo DVRs. With the update, Tablo will enable its Legacy Transition plan which will improve older Tablo performance going forward.

The 2.2.58 firmware update will rollout over the coming weeks. Users with a network-connected Tablo (excluding the Tablo DUAL HDMI and QUAD HDMI) will get a notification when their device is ready for the update.

Note: Tablo says that it is possible to revert to the previous firmware by contacting support, if you decide you don’t like the update.

Here’s what to do when you get the notification.

While the update will give you the option of using newer Tablo apps, you’ll still be able to use your Tablo via legacy apps as well, if you prefer.

Along with connectivity improvements and bug fixes, the update will allow owners of legacy network-connected Tablo devices to access and manage those DVRs via newer 4th Generation Tablo apps.

Why transition to the newer Tablo apps? Here’s what you’ll get.

The Tablo devices eligible for the Legacy Transition include the Original 2-Tuner Tablo, Original 4-Tuner Tablo, Tablo DUAL LITE, Tablo DUAL 64 GB, Tablo DUAL 128 GB, TABLO QUAD, and Tablo QUAD 1 TB.

Devices not eligible include the Tablo DUAL HDMI and Tablo QUAD HDMI. If you’re using one of those two devices currently, Tablo is offering a Legacy Trade-In program to upgrade your device. This program provides a one-time coupon code for $30 off the cost of upgrading to any new 4th Generation Tablo device.
