Tablo DVR’s New Premium Service Launches This Week

Back in January the behind the popular Tablo DVR announced that they would be launching a new premium service for customers who want to use the automatic commercial skipping feature. In the past the commercial skipping beta we free now as it exits beta you will need to pay more in order to use Tablo’s automatic commercial skipping feature.

“We realize that cord cutters are cost-conscious which is why our optional TV Guide Data Service subscription has not increased in price since Tablo’s launch in 2014,” said Grant Hall, the CEO of Nuvyyo, the makers of Tablo. “However, the significant and ongoing costs for the cloud computing resources, advanced machine learning systems, and DSP algorithms that make our Automatic Commercial Skip feature work means we need to ask customers who are interested in continuing with this feature to pay an small additional monthly fee beyond the current basic subscription price.”

Tablo has started to notify current subscribers about the change with an on-screen popup when they launch their Tablo DVR. For now, you can continue to enjoy the automatic commercial skipping feature until February 6th, 2020. At that time you will need to start paying for the new premium service if you want to continue to use commercial skipping.
