A New Tablo DVR with Four Tuners Quietly Pops Up on Best Buy

A Tablo digital video recorder with four tuners popped up on Best Buy’s site.

This is a slight upgrade over the existing fourth-generation Table DVR, which has two tuners and sells for $79.95 on its own site. The new version is listed for $139.99 on Best Buy and is exclusive to the store.

The Tablo DVR serves as a hub that can handle both feeds from an over-the-air TV antenna and streaming services. You connect an antenna or set-top box to the Tablo, and then connect it to your television, allowing you to watch and record programs. The original allowed you to record up to two live programs simultaneously, while the new one will give you four live streams.

The other benefit is the ability to watch the DVR content on up to six devices at once.

The DVR has 128GB of storage and support for an external hard drive with up to 8,000 GB. The internal storage is enough for 50 hours of programming but can be extended to hundreds of hours with an external hard drive.

A Tablo spokeswoman confirmed the device and pointed to this announcement blog post. She noted that this was identical to the other fourth-generation device, but with the additional two tuners.
