T-Mobile’s VP of Home Entertainment Opens Up About Their New Live TV Streaming Service

Online movie stream with mobile device. Man watching film on tablet with imaginary video player service.Today at the Pay TV show in Denver Jeff Binder T-Mobile’s VPE of Home and Entertainment opened up about their new live TV streaming service. Well, Jeff still refused to answer many of the questions cord cutters want to know we still got some very interesting details from the Keynote. According to Jeff Binder, T-Mobile’s live TV service will launch in 2018 and will be “sooner than later.”

As for what we can expect from the service Jeff Binder said, “TV needs to be more reflective of who we are as consumers.” A big part of that seems to be a focus on customer service. “You deserve to have someone to pick up the phone right away.” Jeff Binder went on to say.

So exactly how will this service be delivered we are still unsure. When questioned on if this service would be a set-top box system similar to what Layer 3 has done in the past Jeff declined to comment. The one interesting thing he did say was that 5G is the perfect delivery for video.

One-point Jeff Binder continued to push home on was the idea that T-Mobile’s new TV service will bring new technology, ideas, and better integration of TV and smartphone. Though Mr Binder did try to set expectations saying that T-Mobile’s new service won’t solve every single-issue day one. Rather he pushed the idea that T-Mobile will continue to develop the service after launch. He pushed the idea that this was the start of their journey, not the end.

For now, we will have to continue to wait and see what T-Mobile does next.
