T-Mobile Will Shut Down Its SyncUp Pets Service on November 10

T-Mobile plans to shutter its SyncUp Pets service on November 10, according to the device’s support page. After that, SyncUp Pets will no longer connect to T-Mobile’s network to allow users to track their pets. In addition, any existing lines and related billing will be canceled.

Internal documents obtained by The Mobile Report said users received a text message about the service’s retirement starting October 27. No action is required by the customer, but anyone with questions can call the carrier’s 611 help line.

The mobile carrier’s SyncUp Pets device, which launched in 2020, could be attached to your pet’s collar to track their location and provide you with directions to find them, monitor their activity, and light up to help spot them in the dark.

SyncUp Pets is the latest service discontinued by the carrier. Earlier this month, T-Mobile said it would shut down its 2G networks on April 2, 2024 as it continues to transition users to its 4G and 5G networks. Customers who still using 2G and are unable to purchase a new phone can go to their local T-Mobile store and get a new, replacement 5G phone for free. Devices include the Apple iPhone SE (3rd gen, 64GB), OnePlus Nord N300, T-Mobile REVVL 6, the REVVL 6X, Moto G, and the Nokia G3100.

It’s unclear if T-Mobile plans to create a new tool to track pets, or make suggestions for replacement devices, in the future. If you’re a SyncUp Pets user in need of a new tracking method for your furry friend, Consumer Reports compiled a list of pet GPS trackers that could help start your search.

T-Mobile wasn’t immediately available for comment.
