Now T-Mobile has raised its data cap to 50GB a month starting today. Although it offers unlimited data, it does slow you down if you go over a set limit. In the past T-Mobile didn’t start to slow down users until they hit 32GB of data a month. Now it is going to start the slow down at 50GB of data a month.
As always it is subject to network congestion: If you are in an area where the network is not congested your data may not be slowed down. If you live in an area where the network is congested you are more likely to see the slowdown.
It looks like T-Mobile is trying to stand out because both AT&T and Verizon are once again offering unlimited data. The unlimited data option was one of the big selling points for T-Mobile before Verizon and AT&T also joined in with no-fees plans.
It was also reported by CNBC yesterday that Sprint and T-Mobile are once again in talks for a possible merger. Details are still thin but clearly the two smaller national providers are fighting not only against the big two but also even smaller discount phone providers.
