5G home internet has already started to roll out by smaller companies with Verizon launching their network at the start of October 2018. T-Mobile and Sprint promise to have their 5G internet services live by the end of 2018.
Verizon is promising average speeds of 300 Mbps with speeds up to 1 Gbps for $50 a month for Verizon Wireless customers or $70 for non-wireless customers. T-Mobile is promoting average speeds of 300 Mbps, but we still don’t know the price. Hopefully, as more 5G services roll out we see a real price war for home internet.
2018 will be the start of the rollout of 5G. Look for it to pick up speed in 2018. With speeds in the 300 Mbps range, it is more than enough for cord cutters to enjoy streaming their content without a cable internet service.
