T-Mobile is Continuing to Roll Out its Pilot Home Internet Service As They Prepare For Their 5G Home Internet

Women Using LaptopBack in March 2019, T-Mobile announced that they have started to test home internet services using LTE. At the time this program offered LTE home internet to 50,000 households to start testing out T-Mobile’s hardware ahead of their 5G home internet services launch. This week T-Mobile has started to contact more T-Mobile customers to offer them a chance to use T-Mobile’s LTE home internet service.

Update: T-Mobile has confirmed to Cord Cutters News that they are continuing to roll out this service to new subscribers. T-Mobile hopes to have 50,000 households using its LTE home internet service by the end of 2019.

At the time T-Mobile’s CEO John Legere said “Two weeks ago, I laid out our plans for home broadband with the New T-Mobile. Now, we’re already hard at work building toward that future.” Mr Legere went on to say: “We’re walking the walk and laying the foundation for a world where we can take the fight to Big Cable on behalf of consumers and offer real choice, competition and savings to Americans nationwide.”

This new service will offer 50 Mbps down home internet (due to “LTE network and spectrum capacity constraints”) for $50 a month with no data cap. T-Mobile is quick to add that the new 5G home internet services will be far faster when it launches. T-Mobile says current customers in select areas eligible to participate in the pilot will receive T-Mobile Home Internet invitations this week by email and U.S. mail with information on how to sign up.
