T-Mobile Expands Home Internet Pilot in Michigan

T-Mobile is bringing its home internet pilot plan to the Grand Rapids area in Michigan, including Kent, Muskegon and Ottawa counties. Both T-Mobile customers and non-customers will have a new option for high speed broadband internet.

T-Mobile Home Internet costs $50/month with taxes and fees included, no annual service contracts, and no introductory offers that will raise prices after a promo period. The service does not require hardware rentals and comes with no data caps.

The company’s plan to bring internet to 10 million households was announced last year and launched as an invite-only pilot program. On average, those users in the pilot program rated their service at an 8.6 out of 10, with 10 being “extremely satisfied” with the service. 69% reported saving money with T-Mobile Internet, saving $32/month on average.

“As a company, we’re at our best disrupting the status quo and mixing it up with bloated, over-confident incumbents that have never been forced to compete for customers. There’s not an industry that fits the “never compete” definition better than cable and telco ISPs … aka the Cableopoly,” said Mike Sievert, CEO of T-Mobile. “Three months into our merger with Sprint, we’re just at the very, very beginning of seeing the incredible benefits of our combined network but the early signs are extremely promising — particularly in rural America — not just for traditional wireless service but also for home broadband.”
