T-Mobile Announces Plans to Spend an Additional $500 Million on 5G & Offering Up To 50% Off For Military Families

Mid age woman sitting at tableThis week T-Mobile announced new 5G plans and a new military discount for Military Families.

According to T-Mobile, they plan to roll out 5G internet to military bases around the United States. As part of that push, T-Mobile plans to spend at least $500 million to bring the new faster internet services to military bases.

“At T-Mobile, we don’t just see the uniform … we see the family behind the uniform,” T-Mobile CEO John Legere said in a statement. “I was shocked when I learned that over half of service members experience some unemployment after leaving the military and active-duty spouses have a 4x higher unemployment rate than the national average. Our country can do better! So we’re stepping up with our biggest hiring commitment ever and a new partnership with FourBlock.”

T-Mobile also announced that they will offer 20% off the first line and 50% off the next six lines for military families. Military families can also get the Samsung Galaxy S9, S9+, or S8 phones for half off through the end of May 2018.

These 5G plans are on top of the planned rollout of the 30 cities T-Mobile plans to roll out 5G in by the end of 2018.

Here is a 5G demo we saw at CES this year that should give you an idea of what to expect.
