Sports streaming service Dazn and Sylvester Stallone’s Balboa Productions are joining forces to create a docuseries called One Night. The films will recap recent memorable boxing highlights, including the moment Andy Ruiz Jr. shot to fame and became the first Mexican-American heavyweight champion as he defeated opponent Anthony Joshua.
”My Hollywood script came to life that historic June night when unknown boxer Andy Ruiz achieved a victory that shocked the world. It was the real life Rocky and the perfect story to kick off our partnership with DAZN,” Stallone said. “There is nothing like the world of boxing… the drama, the humanity, the agony, and the ecstasy. This sport reveals the souls of these courageous warriors like no other sport can so it’s a privilege to be very involved with DAZN and their revolutionary programming.”
In anticipation for the big rematch between Ruiz and Joshua airing December 7 on DAZN, the first documentary episode, One Night: Joshua vs. Ruiz, will premiere November 20 on DAZN and the DAZN Youtube channel. It will also be available on Pluto TV under the Pluto TV Fight Channel, thanks to a recent partnership between the two streaming services.
One Night is directed by Deirdre Fenton, who’s previous projects include ESPN’s 30 for 30 documentaries and O.J. Made In America, which she won an Oscar for.
