Survey: Most Cord Cutters Use Roku Streaming Players

Last week Cord Cutters News conducted our Spring 2018 survey. We talked with over 2,400 of our readers and asked them a wide range of questions related to cord cutting.

One of the questions we asked was what devices they used to stream content online. According to our readers, Roku is continuing their domination in the world of cord cutting.

According to our most recent survey 70.9% of our readers use a Roku streaming player. 40.2% used a Fire TV, and 24.6% of our readers use an Apple TV.

Other popular devices included:

What may be most interesting is the lack of change at the top. During our Spring 2017 survey, Roku was at 71.9%, Fire TV was at 41.5%, and the Apple TV was at 28.5%. It clearly looks like people have found the devices they like and are sticking with them.

Our question now is – what would it take for cord cutters to switch from one device over to the next? Will 2018 be the year that Smart TVs finally start to over take streaming players?

What would it take for you to switch from your favorite device to a new one? Leave a comment and let us know.
