Survey: 63% of Respondents Said They’d Watch Disney+ More if it Had More Content for Adults

Disney+ had an explosion of subscribers when it first launched in Nov. 2019, but since then, its growth rate has slowed down considerably. Some factors that can be attributed to its sluggish growth include a slow rollout of new content, as well as lack of content aimed at adults.

In a recent survey by Whip Media for Variety, more than 63% of respondents say they would watch Disney+ more often if there was more adult content on the service. Recently, Disney+ has upped its originals appealing to older audiences, with series like The Mandalorian, Loki, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and more creating a pretty good buzz among users. But in between those releases, there’s not much else to keep drawing adult viewers back for more.

One idea is for Disney+ to start giving subscribers access to Hulu originals like The Handmaid’s Tale, something more than 50% of survey respondents say they’d be into. Disney+ already has the parental controls needed to restrict more mature content, so little viewers getting access wouldn’t be a problem.

However, just over half (53%) of survey respondents feel that Disney+ has enough content to keep them entertained and coming back daily. But that’s not saying the service wouldn’t benefit from a little more content that appeals to teens and adults.
