Super Bowl is the Most-Watched U.S. Program Ever With 123.7 Million Viewers

Super Bowl LVIII was the most-watched U.S. program ever after racking up 123.7 million viewers on Sunday, according to audience measurement firm Nielsen.

The CBS broadcast averaged 120.3 million viewers, while 2.3 million viewers tuned in for the Spanish-language broadcast on Univision. Another 1.2 million tuned in to watch a kid-friendly broadcast on Nickelodeon and Nick-at-Nite.

This year’s match-up had a lot going for it. The Kansas City Chiefs have been dominant over the last few years, having won its third title during its fourth appearance in five years. There was plenty of drama packed into the end of the game, with a nail-biting overtime against the San Francisco 49ers that had audiences on pins and needles. And, of course, there was the Taylor Swift factor, with her romance with Chief Tight End Travis Kelce drawing in legions of Swifties.

The overtime game drew a combined average household rating of 43.5, and a combined household share of 83. Overall, viewership rose 7.4% from 2023, which drew 115.1 million viewers, Nielsen said.
