Summer Break Streaming Guide: PBS Kids on Amazon

With summer vacation just around the corner, most of us are looking forward to warm weather and days spent outside. For the days when being outside isn’t an option, parents who are cord cutters have lots of options for keeping kids entertained. Today, we’re sharing the first part of a Summer Break Streaming Guide for kid friendly content.

About PBS Kids on Amazon

Amazon channels are subscriptions to third party channels, through your Amazon Prime Video account. To subscribe, you’ll need to have a Prime membership or a Prime free trial. After subscribing to a channel, you can’t share that subscription across Prime accounts (someone would have to be logged into your account to watch the content.)

PBS Kids is one of several kid friendly Amazon channels. PBS Kids has a mission to provide educational and entertaining content for pre-school and school aged kids. The programming from the channel is designed to help kids develop reading, math, social, and emotional skills that will help them both in and out of school.

A PBS Kids subscription costs $4.99/month, after a 7 day free trial.

PBS Kids Content

On the PBS Kids channel on Amazon, you’ll find all of your favorite PBS Kids shows and movies featuring the same characters. Some of the shows your kids can enjoy include:

You’ll also be able to watch the classics, including Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood and Reading Rainbow.

In addition to the selection of shows, you’ll find movies featuring the PBS Kids characters. With most of the movies coming in at around an hour, they’re just the right length to keep kids occupied during a rainy afternoon or when they need a break from the heat.

The content on the channel has been developed by educators, parents, and experts, giving parents added assurance that kids will be learning while watching their favorite characters when engaging in screen time.

How to Watch

With a subscription through Amazon Prime channels, you can watch the content on any device compatible with Amazon streaming, including the following:

If you’re looking for a kid friendly device for streaming content, the Fire HD 8 Kids Edition Tablet is a good option. The tablet offers everything that you’d get with any other Fire tablet, but has parental controls that can be used on the tablet or remotely. This gives parents the ability to monitor and determine what content and apps kids have access to. The tablet also comes with 1 year of free FreeTime Unlimited. This subscription (normally $2.99/month) provides apps, activities, and books for kids.
