Streaming Titles Dominate the Oscar Nominations for 2021

Last year, the movie entertainment world saw a huge shift to streaming due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and the proof is manifesting itself during this year’s awards season. Just as Netflix cleaned up at the Golden Globes, streamers and Netflix, in particular, are set to do very well at the upcoming Oscar Awards.

Netflix has scored 31 nominations this year, led by “Mank” with 10 nominations alone. The next titles in line with six nominations each are “The Father,” “Judas and the Black Messiah,” “Minari,” “Nomadland,” “Sound of Metal” and “The Trial of the Chicago 7.

Netflix and Disney/Pixar made up the majority of noms for animated film, with Soul, Onward, Over the Moon, and A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon, while Apple TV+ Wolfwalkers also made the list.
