Starting in 2017 Comcast Will Charge $5.49 For Every TV You Use

If you are still just thinking about cord cutting or maybe being tempted back to cable TV there is a new fee increase coming you should know about. Comcast will soon be charging $5.49 a month for every digital adapter outlet fee.

So what is a “digital adapter outlet fee”? As Comcast is updating its TV networks around the United States it is switching to digital TV, which allows it to offer faster Internet speeds and more channels; however, it also means every TV needs to have a digital box connected to it.

Now that fee is jumping from just $3.49 to $5.49 a month, which means that if you have three TVs in your house you will pay an extra $16.47 a month just for this fee. Over a two-year contract that means you will have paid $395.28 for the privilege of connecting your TV to the cable TV service you are already paying for.

Fees like this are how traditional pay-TV providers help hide the real cost of the service. They may say TV is the same cost as Internet but they hide it behind fees such as digital adapter outlet fee and HD broadcast fees, regional sports fees, and the list goes on and on.

Recently we showed how Comcast added over $40 in fees to just one customers bill. So always remember never trust the promotional fees you find advertised.
