Star Trek: Picard Renewed for Season 2 on CBS All Access

Star Trek: Picard premieres next month on CBS All Access, but the series has already been renewed for a second season.

The news was reported by Deadline after it was found that $20.4 million in California tax incentives were allocated to the show. That number is higher than the tax incentives given to any television project by the California Film Commission program to date. For comparison, the first season of the show was given $15.6 million.

Showrunner Michael Chabon is transitioning into the role of showrunner for The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay for Showtime, but will remain involved in the second season of Picard, acting as executive producer of the series.

Season 1 of Star Trek: Picard will debut on CBS All Access on January 23. The series will air new episodes weekly on the streaming service. With season 1 done filming, sources tell Deadline that season 2 could start airing as soon as Spring 2020.
