Spotify’s Free Service is Now Available on Amazon Echo, Sonos, and Bose Speakers

Amazon Alexa

Today, Spotify announced it’s free tier music streaming service will now be available on Amazon Alexa, Sonos, and Bose speakers. Prior to this announcement, only Spotify Premium accounts were compatible with these devices.

This new compatibility update is available to users in the U.S., Australia and New Zealand. Users in these countries can now ask Alexa to play their playlists from their Spotify account, including popular ones like Today’s Top Hits and Discover Weekly. Alexa can stream your music right to your Amazon Echo or Fire TV. You can find out more about how to set up your Spotify Free account on Amazon devices here.

For Sonos and Bose smart speakers, you can stream through the Spotify Connect. Make sure your speaker is on and updated with the latest firmware, and then click the “devices” icon in your Spotify app, either from your phone, tablet, or laptop. Select the device you want to stream from and you’re all set.

According to their press release, this move to incorporate new eligible devices compatible with the Spotify Free account is an effort to make user’s listening experience as seamless as possible, picking up where their music left off either in their home, car or on a mobile device.
