Spotify announced Monday a list of features that will now be available to users with the free plan, including finally having the ability to choose specific songs.
Three features now available to users with a free plan include “Pick & Play,” “Search & Play,” and “Share & Play.” Here’s how Spotify describes each of the features:
- Pick & Play: Got a nagging earworm? Hit play in the Spotify app, and you can pick and play any song you want.
- Search & Play: Type in your favorite track and start listening instantly.
- Share & Play: Love sharing your favorite tracks with friends? Has an artist shared a new track on social that you want to hear? Tap to listen right away.
With the ability to play any specific song also comes the option to add any song to a personalized playlist. Free users are now able to create their own playlists, create unique titles, design cover art, and choose each song. Spotify also offers curated playlists, based on songs, artists, and genre the user plays. The more a user interacts with the app, the more specific Spotify can get with recommendations.
Unique to Spotify is a one-of-a-kind playlist called Daylist. Spotify creates Daylists for each user which “understands and reflects what types of music you like to listen to during particular moments in the day, or on specific days of the week.” The Daylist is updated with different themes and songs throughout the day.
Other features, including AI Playlist, Mix, and the new Lossless Audio, which launched last week, will continue to be available only to Premium subscribers.
