Spectrum Admits the Average Cable TV Customer Pays Over $180 a Month

For some time now the argument against cord cutting has been the idea that you can save money by getting a cable TV package for under $100 a month. Now Spectrum seems to have hurt that argument by admitting that the average Spectrum customer pays $180.42 for Internet and TV.

Recently Spectrum struck a deal with a major apartment chain that covers multiple states. With this deal, they agreed to offer a special bulk-rate pricing for cable and Internet. According to the flyer that Spectrum sent people who lived in these apartment complexes, the average Spectrum TV customer pays $180.42 a month for 150+ HD channels, 2 set-top boxes, modem, router, and 200 Mbps internet. Yet even Spectrum’s own flyer did not include the cost of DVR that costs at least $11.99 a month. That means the if you want a DVR your average TV and Internet bill costs $192.41.

Now Spectrum admitted this as part of a push about why being forced to pay $75 a month even if you don’t want Spectrum’s service was good deal. Instead they give us a more accurate look at how to compare the cost of cord cutting to cable TV.
