SpaceX’s Starlink Internet Went Down Today But Has Now Been Fixed

Starlink-Resized2

If you have Starlink internet from SpaceX you may be one of many that are suffering an internet outage. SpaceX has confirmed that they are currently experiencing a network outage and are busy working to resolve it.

Update: Starlink says the service has been restored:

There is no official word yet on the network coming back online, but some customers are reporting the network is back online. Others are reporting it is still down for them.

This comes as Starlink has been seeing improved speed and performance recently. Now, in many rural areas, Starlink can reach download speeds of over 600 Mbps.

As reported by WCCFTech, Starlink satellites are well positioned above Germany and subscribers are seeing download speeds of up to 649 Mbps. Upload speeds aren’t nearly as fast, clocking in at around 200 Mbps.

Starlink reports its average download speed range from 25 to 220 Mbps, with most users seeing speeds over 100 Mbps. Upload speeds range between 5 and 20 Mbps.

Due to the popularity of the brand and the novelty of low Earth orbit satellite internet access, Starlink has varying reports of download speeds based on location. Areas with higher populations experience more congestion and slower download speeds compared to rural areas, though Starlink repeatedly outperforms traditional broadband speeds.

As SpaceX continues to launch new Starlink satellites, the constellation will grow to provide faster download speeds and more reliable connections around the globe. More satellites will fill gaps in the current constellation, expanding coverage with every successful launch.
