SpaceX Starlink Will Be ‘Fully Mobile’ This Year, Musk Says

As beta testing of SpaceX’s Starlink internet service continues, Elon Musk has taken to Twitter again to answer some questions about the current status of the service and the future of Starlink.

In response to Tim Dodd, host of the “Our Ludicrous Future” podcast, Musk shared that the service should be fully mobile this year. That would allow users to use their internet at home, at other locations, and in vehicles.

The tweet followed another response from Musk to CNBC reporter Michael Sheetz who shared an article with Starlink users’ opinions on Starlink internet during beta testing. According to Sheetz, users reported download speeds between 60 Mbps and 150 Mbps and as high as 200 Mbps. For the most part, the users surveyed approved of speeds, equipment, and pricing of the service. Some voiced concerns about installation issues and occasional outages. Musk responded to the story by saying ” Service uptime, bandwidth & latency are improving rapidly.” He also noted that beta testing will likely be finished this summer.

SpaceX has now launched over 1400 Starlink satellites and continues to take pre-orders for internet service. A deposit of $100 is required to preorder, with that money going toward a Starlink Starter Kit when the service is available in your area.
