SpaceX launched another 58 satellites early Saturday morning, from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.
The successful launch brings the total number of the company’s broadband internet satellites in orbit to 538. SpaceX will continue scheduling missions to build its constellation of satellites, until reaching a total of 1,584 satellites for this phase.
The previous launch, just 10 days ago, included one satellite with the VisorSat system. The system was designed by SpaceX to make satellites less visible in the night sky, addressing concerns of light pollution caused by low orbit satellites.
SpaceX has a goal to bring high speed, low cost internet throughout the US and the world. In April, Elon Musk answered a series of questions on Twitter about when that service will be available. At that time, Musk said that private beta testing for the service would begin in around three months, with public beta testing beginning in about six months.
