Sony warned users that it plans to delete Discovery reality shows like Mythbusters and Naked and Afraid from their digital libraries despite being purchased.

Sony began alerting users in recent emails, according to Kotaku. Sony’s Playstation site has put up a page with a full list of shows that will be deleted from user libraries. The shows will be removed on December 31.

Sony said the move was due to “our content licensing arrangements with content providers,” but didn’t offer more explanation.

The move highlights the fact that digital purchases, unlike physical ones, aren’t as permanent as you think. The rights for Discovery programming likely has gone through a lot of reshuffling in the wake of Discovery’s merger with Warner Media, which last year created Warner Bros. Discovery.

There’s a full discussion on Reddit about the issue, with users attempting to find ways to salvage their digital libraries.

Playstation users first began to buy movies and shows through the PlayStation Network in 2008 on their PlayStation 3 console.

Other shows affected include Cake Boss, American Chopper, Deadliest Catch, and Shark Week.
