Sony Crackle Updates Their App & Adds Alexa Support

Cheerful family having popcorn while watching television at homeSony Crackle is a free ad-supported streaming service that offers a large collection of movies and TV shows on a long list of platforms. This week Sony Crackle updated their Fire TV app to add a fresh new look and Alexa support. Now you can use Alexa to find titles and control playback.

Sony Crackle joins a growing list of streaming services that now use Amazon’s Alexa voice controls. This allows you to not only be able to launch the app but also find content and search the store with your voice.

Amazon seems determined to bring Alexa controls to apps on the Fire TV. Their recent strategy seems to be to make voice controls accessible on everything.

While this may not seem like something you will use, for those with physical disabilities from blindness to a broken arm being able to use your voice to control what you watch is lifesaving. Hopefully Amazon continues to roll out more voice controls.

Update: It looks like Sony Crackle is rolling out their new look to Roku also.
