Some Former Philo Users Can Come Back at the Legacy $25 Per Month Price

Some former Philo subscribers are finding that they re-subscribe to the streaming service at the old $25 price point, without having HBO Max included in their plan.

Philo saw a price hike from $25 to $28 per month in May 2025, while adding AMC+ access. At that time, current subscribers were able to keep their Legacy subscription at the $25 price if they didn’t want to add AMC+.

In September 2025, Philo added HBO Max and Discovery+ to their Core subscription package, giving users access to the ad-supported plans of the premium streaming services. With the addition of the added premium channels, Philo raised the price of its Core package from $28 to $33. Core plan subscribers were not given the option of skipping the extra channels and keeping their lower price.

On a Philo support page, a FAQ says:

Can I just keep my Philo subscription as it is? I don’t want HBO Max or discovery+.

There’s no option to avoid the upgrade to the latest version of our Philo Core subscription which includes the HBO Max Basic with Ads plan and discovery+. You’ll automatically be upgraded to the new price point. That said, you aren’t required to activate those subscriptions through HBO Max or discovery+.

Now, some Legacy package subscribers who have cancelled their subscriptions are finding that when they go to their Philo account, they’re given the option of signing up again at that Legacy $25 per month price or choosing the current $33 per month price with the added premium subscriptions.

This isn’t a publicly available offer, so individual users will need to log in to their account to see if restarting with the lower price is an option.

New users can sign up for the Philo Core package, current priced at $33 per month, for $25 for the first month.
