Sling Users Can Now Access Local Channels with Locast on Fire TV

Sling TV is once again making it easier for subscribers who use Locast for locals to see what’s on TV. Sling has expanded its Locast integration and is showing Locast channels in its channel guide on Amazon Fire TV.

The Sling TV and Locast integration started in February when a Sling update allowed subscribers using an Air TV Mini to see Locast channels on their channel guide. The update then rolled out on Android devices in April.

While the channels will show up in the Sling guide, selecting one of the channels will take you out of the Sling app and open the Locast app. Sling’s Cloud DVR does not work with Locast channels.

Locast is available in 35 markets: Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Cleveland, Columbus, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Madison, Miami, Minneapolis, New York, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Portland (OR), Puerto Rico, Raleigh, Rapid City, Sacramento, San Francisco, Scranton, Seattle, Sioux City, Sioux Falls, Tampa Bay, Tri-Cities, Washington DC, and West Palm Beach.

Not a Sling TV subscriber yet? Right now, you can sign up for just $10 for your first month on either Sling Orange or Sling Blue (normally $35/month). The offer also includes DVR Plus (normally $5/month) giving you 200 hours of storage. If you want to bundle the two packages, you can sign up for Sling Orange and Blue for just $25 for your first month (normally $50/month).
