Sling TV Updates Their Roku Channel With New Features

Today Sling TV updated their Roku Channel with some new features. Now when you look at the My TV section your favorites will not only list the channel but also what show is currently airing. No longer will you have to load the channel to find out what is airing.

You will need the Roku OS 8.0 update to find this new feature but most Roku’s updated this week to the new Roku OS 8.0.

Here is a quick look at what the new Sling TV My TV page looks like running on Android TV:

If your Roku has not updated yet to the new Roku OS 8.0 here is how you can manually update it:

Follow the instructions below to manually check for software and channel updates.

  1. Press the Home button  on your Roku remote.
  2. Scroll up or down and select Settings.
  3. Select System.
  4. Select System update.
    • Note: The System update screen displays the current software and build version, along with the date and time of the latest update.
  5. Select Check Now to manually check for updates.

After you follow these steps you will see Roku update. (You may also find that Roku OS 8.0 is being added to your device first. If that happens after the update go back to settings and recheck for software updates after the 8.0 Roku OS update.)
