Sling TV To Add EPIX Channels And Over 2,000 On-Demand Movies

Sling_Television_logo_white_webreadySling TV announced today that it will be adding EPIX to a new add-on package that will include EPIX, EPIX2, EPIX3 and EPIX Drive-In, plus more than 2,000 movie and entertainment titles on-demand as part of its next-generation TV service.

“Our customers crave the newest movies like The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and Transformers: Age of Extinction, but they also have a growing appetite for the classics and EPIX delivers both,” said Roger Lynch, CEO of Sling TV. “Sling TV will feature EPIX’s linear channels and movies on-demand in an add-on package that is accessible and affordable.”

Cord Cutters News asked Sling TV if the on-demand movies would be free with the add-on package or if there would be a extra rental fee for the on-demand movies. We were told that they could not comment on pricing or release any further details at this time. They added that full details about the deal with EPIX would be released in the upcoming weeks. This is not unexpected since it is possible the exact details of the package are not yet finalized.

At this time all we can do is speculate about the possibilities for the on-demand content. Maybe paid rentals for non subscribers to the add-on package and free to subscribers?  All we have is our imagination until we get the full details.

“Sling TV is an innovative new way to deliver content to consumers who are looking for alternatives beyond traditional pay television,” said Mark Greenberg, president and CEO of EPIX. “From the very creation of EPIX, we have sought to capitalize on new technology to reach people with our movies where they want them, when they want them and how they want them. This is another exciting step forward with a great partner in that effort.”

No official launch date for the EPIX add-on package has been announced. The press release only mentions the launch date will be announced in the next few weeks.

The announcement of EPIX joining Sling TV comes just about a week after AMC announced they would be joining Sling TV. No exact date has been announced for the AMC launch, but full details are expected in the next few weeks.

This constant feed of new announcements from Sling TV leaves us wondering what will be next.
