Sling subscribers can rewatch all of their favorite shows, movies, games, events, and more with the convenience of unlimited DVR, the company officially announced today. Last week, it was reported that Sling rolled out the feature for select customers.
The DVR Plus add-on, previously capped at 200 hours, has been renamed to Unlimited DVR effective immediately and gives viewers unlimited DVR storage for only $5 per month. Subscribers can rewatch their saved recordings for up to 9 months.
“With Unlimited DVR and our exclusive Auto Record, Sling TV continues to redefine what value and convenience look like for streaming customers,” said Seth Van Sickel, senior vice president, Product and Operations, DISH Video Services. “This enhancement ensures that our subscribers can capture and enjoy their favorite shows, movies, and events on their terms, anytime and anywhere.”
With Unlimited DVR, Sling TV subscribers can:
- Record an unlimited number of shows simultaneously: No more conflicts or tough choices – record everything you want, whenever you want.
- Keep recordings for 9 months: Enjoy ample time to catch up on your favorite programs.
- Fast-forward through commercials: Save time and skip the ads with ease.
- Access recordings from any device: Watch your recorded content anytime, anywhere in the U.S. on any Sling TV supported device.
The upgrade to unlimited DVR capability enhances Sling in a competitive streaming market. Multi-channel live TV streaming competitors Philo, DIRECTV STREAM, Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, and Fubo each offer unlimited DVR storage, with the latter being the last one to make the switch.
Those without the Unlimited DVR add-on can enjoy 50 hours of recordings that come standard with any Sling subscription. Sling Freestream viewers also have 10 hours of storage for no additional cost.
To upgrade to Unlimited DVR:
- Online: Log in to sling.com/my-account, click “Edit Subscription,” scroll down to “DVR options,” and click “Upgrade.”
- In-app: Open the Sling TV app, click on the Unlimited DVR upgrade banner on the RECORDINGS page, and click the “Add for $5/month” button.
With this new offering, Sling TV continues to innovate and provide viewers with a customizable and affordable way to enjoy their favorite television programming.
