Sling TV is Removing NBC On-Demand Content

Today Sling TV contacted subscribers to inform them that they are dropping NBC’s On-Demand content in some areas. Here is the email Sling TV is sending out today:

Dear valued subscriber,

We wanted to let you know that NBC content will no longer be available on demand in your area as of 12/2/19.

Sling no longer has the right to make this content available to subscribers who do not receive the NBC national broadcast channel through Sling. We apologize for the inconvenience, but please continue to enjoy over 72,000 other episodes and films available on demand via Sling.

All the best,
The Sling TV Team

For some time, Sling TV has offered on-demand NBC content to subscribers who didn’t receive a live feed of NBC. Now though, according to the email Sling TV sent out, they no longer have rights to this content.

Update: Sling TV sent Cord Cutters News the following statement about this change:

Unfortunately, Sling no longer has the rights to show on-demand content from NBC to customers who reside outside of the following markets: New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Boston, Washington, D.C., Miami/Ft. Lauderdale, Hartford/New Haven, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Los Angeles, San Francisco/Oakland/San Jose, San Diego. On-demand content from NBC is still available to customers in the above markets.

Another option for Sling customers to receive their local NBC channel may be to use a digital over-the-air (OTA) antenna. Local TV stations are required to broadcast their channels for free over the public airwaves, and you may be able to watch them for free with a digital antenna. AirTV is a great option to get over-the-air signals to your home for free and integrate them right into the Sling TV interface.
