Channel Master announced yesterday that Sling TV was being added to their DVR+ platform, allowing their customers to access the live and on-demand Internet TV service from Sling TV directly within the channel guide. If you own a DVR+ it should receive an automatic software update on January 6 that will include the addition of the Sling TV app.

“Consumers reject the traditional pay-TV model for more reasons than just saving money, it’s also about having choices and not being locked into exorbitant contracts,” said Coty Youtsey, CEO of Channel Master. “Sling TV’s business model, in addition to its top-rated programming options, makes it a perfect fit for our customers and we’re very excited to launch the service today.”

Channel Master provides a cable-like traditional experience to TV lovers who desire live TV, local channels and a DVR in addition to live and on-demand streaming services. The DVR+, a popular device for TV antenna users, is a subscription-free DVR that allows customers to pause and record live TV, as well as access streaming services and live Internet channels. However, DVR functionality from Channel Master is not available for any Sling TV content.

Sling TV is a streaming service that provides access to live and on-demand programming from the most popular cable channels, such as ESPN, AMC, HGTV, TNT, A&E and Disney Channel on TVs, tablets, phones, computers and game consoles. Sling TV’s $20 per month price point and $5 more per month genre-based “Extras” have made it a go-to choice for the growing number of households who do not subscribe to traditional pay-TV services.
