Sky Says Their Live TV Streaming Service Has Been Very Successful For Them

Cheerful family having popcorn while watching television at homeYesterday at the Pay TV Show in Denver, Andrew Olson, the executive vice president for strategic innovation, talked about the success of Sky’s live TV streaming efforts.

During the talk, Olson opened up about the Now TV streaming service Sky launched in the UK. According to Olson, the service is very successful both in a number of subscribers and revenue.

Recently Sky has expanded their live TV streaming outside of the UK, launching as a standalone service in Spain and rolling out in Germany.

While cord cutting may not be as popular in Europe, according to a Pay TV Show panelist, the main hold up is the limited number of streaming services compared to the United States. Yet at the same time, the growth of live TV streaming for Sky has been very successful.

Although the United States may have more cord cutting options and streaming services, Sky predates most of the US live TV streaming services. Sky’s success in live TV streaming should end any concerns about moving to the United States.

The question now is with Sky up for sale what will happen next. The question seems to be will Comcast or Disney buy Sky.
