Sinclair Owned CBS Stations Are Coming to DIRECTV NOW & YouTube TV

Today it was announced that CBS and Sinclair had agreed to renew four new CBS affiliates that Sinclair owns. This deal means that these 4 new CBS affiliates will be streaming soon on DIRECTV NOW & YouTube TV. (What does soon mean? We have no idea could be months from now.)

“We are pleased we have reached this renewal agreement with Sinclair,” said Ray Hopkins, President of Network Distribution for the CBS Television Network. “This is a win-win with our longtime partner who recognizes the value that the number one network brings to viewers in these markets, while CBS continues to deliver industry-leading content and achieve both our short and long-term economic goals.”

The big news here is that Sinclair owned CBS stations will be coming to DIRECTV NOW. Something that was hinted at but is now official.

This deal includes KGAN-TV, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; KGBT-TV in Harlingen, Texas, and WGME-TV in Portland, Me., plus WTVH-TV in Syracuse. (Note Sinclair recently struck a deal with CBS for many of their other CBS owned stations.)

“We are pleased to renew our agreements with CBS, a longtime partner and provider of some of the most popular entertainment and sports programming,” said Barry Faber, Sinclair’s Executive Vice President for Distribution and Network Relations. “The renewals reflect the value of the symbiotic relationship, with the local news and syndicated content we provide.”

Hopefully, this is just the start of more CBS stations coming to DIRECTV NOW & YouTube TV.
