Sinclair Is Launching a New Free OTA TV Network Filled With Reality Shows

The Sinclair Broadcast Group on Tuesday said that it’s launching a free, over-the-air national broadcast television network to its collection of channels at the end of this month.

The Nest brings a 2023/2024 lineup spanning daytime and primetime slots full of “comfort food” content focusing on home improvement, true crime, factual reality series, and celebrity family shows. Titles include Sell This House, Flipping San Diego, Flipping Boston, American Justice, Wahlburgers, Growing Up Gotti, Ice Road Truckers, Ozzy & Jack’s World Detour, Steven Segal: Lawman, Dog the Bounty Hunter, Dance Moms, and Cold Case Files.

The new channel will launch on October 30, replacing the Stadium network on broadcast stations.

Due to low ratings, Sinclair sold its controlling stake in Stadium last May, leaving Chicago White Sox and Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf holding majority control. More than 50% of all U.S. OTA households will be able to tune in to The Nest, including New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Dallas-Fort Worth, Boston, San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, Seattle, and Tacoma. Sinclair will reveal more affiliate stations in the upcoming months.

Sinclair’s national broadcast networks have grown audiences by 23% since 2022, and the company is hoping to attract more audiences with a channel focusing on a blend of fan-favorite genres.

“We’re excited to bring the breadth of hit library series to add another layer to The Stack, Sinclair’s portfolio of linear networks featuring Comet, CHARGE!, and TBD,” said Scott Ehrlich, chief innovation officer at Sinclair. “The Nest couples the power and growth of free-to-consumer, over-the-air distribution with great content that viewers love.”

Check out The Nest over the next few weeks to see a daily schedule of programs. When the site goes fully live toward the end of October, households can find where to watch on local channels and stream for free online.
