Sinclair Comments On Why They Pulled Their Channels From PlayStation Vue

This week with just one-hour notice PlayStation Vue dropped all Sinclair-owned ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC locals. Now we get an official statement from Sinclair on what happened.

“We regret Sony was not willing to meet certain requirements for carrying our stations,” stated Barry Faber, Sinclair’s EVP Network Relations & Distribution in a statement on Sinclairs website. “We remind Sony subscribers that there are other video distributor options available to receive our broadcast stations’ programming, including Sony’s direct competitor YouTube TV, which continues to carry stations that Sony has dropped. Fortunately, subscribers to PlayStation Vue can terminate their subscriptions with ease and without termination fees.”

For many buying an antenna is a great way to get access to your locals; for others, that is not an option because they live in an area that does not have their locals free over the air. The good news is in most areas you have a different options. Here are the services that offer Sinclair-owned ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC locals.

Hulu

Hulu has many Sinclair-owned locals. If you already have Hulu, you can add their live TV service for $32 a month.

YouTube TV

Last year it was announced that Sinclair and YouTube TV have struck a deal to bring Sinclair-owned locals to YouTube’s live TV streaming service. In most markets that YouTube TV supports they have all Sinclair-owned locals.

fuboTV

If you need a FOX, NBC, or CBS local that is owned by Sinclair you may want to check out fuboTV. Recently it was announced that fuboTV now has over 250 live locals including many Sinclair locals.

DIRECTV NOW

Recently DIRECTV NOW has been rolling out Sinclair-owned locals, especially the NBC Sinclair-owned locals. Not every Sinclair-owned local is on DIRECTV NOW, so make sure to look at your channel lineup before you sign up. The rest will likely be added shortly.

The even better news is DIRECTV NOW has a free 7-day trial to let you test out the service.

Antenna

Of course, an antenna is the best way to access your locals because most locals are free in most parts of the United States. All you need is an antenna, and you can enjoy all the locals available in your area. To see if you can get locals for free over the air, visit AntennaRecommendations.com. There, you can find out which locals are available over the air in your area.
