Fans of Silo will be happy to know that Apple TV+ has announced that the sci-fi dystopia based on Hugh Howey’s New York Times bestselling trilogy of novels has been renewed for a second season.

Set in 2345 where all records were destroyed over a century ago, the last 10,000 people on Earth live within a silo that extends hundreds of stories underground in a thriving society without knowing their history. The show is executive-produced and stars Rebecca Ferguson as Juliette Nichols, an engineer who starts to discover secrets that could threaten the community that was created in the silo.

Joining Ferguson is an ensemble cast featuring  Common, Emmy nominee Harriet Walter, Chinaza Uche, Avi Nash, Critics Choice Award and NAACP winner David Oyelowo, Emmy-nominee Rashida Jones, and Academy Award winner Tim Robbins.

Created by Emmy-nominated screenwriter Graham Yost, who also serves as showrunner, Silo premiered on May 5 and was an immediate critical success and audience viewership has grown week-to-week.

“It has been enormously fulfilling to see the engrossing, atmospheric and beautifully crafted sci-fi epic ‘Silo’ quickly become Apple’s number one drama series,” said Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+. “As audiences around the world have become gripped by the mysteries and conspiracies buried within this fascinating subterranean world, viewership only continues to climb, and we are so excited for more secrets of the silo to be revealed in season two.”

The first season will consist of 10 episodes with a new one streaming each Friday on Apple TV+ and Episode 8 will be available to stream on Friday, June 16.
